STEVE RIDING HIGH AT HINDHEAD

Ultimate Insurance Solutions, the event's main sponsors, carried off the
spoils as Ultimate 1 comprising Brian Lambert, James Moore, EBGA member Jay
Cookson, from Hampshire, and ITV Presenter Steve Rider carded a magnificent
54.7 to win this year's staging of the popular Texas Scramble Charity Day at
the delightful Hindhead Golf Club.
The foursome were presented with their prizes by the tournament's host and
EBGA Patron, Peter Alliss.

" We are delighted to be able to lend our financial support to this great
event." said Brian Lambert. " And to win it as well is even more pleasing -
especially because we finished ahead of my business partner, Paul Hampshire,
in the other Ultimate team." He added.
After the event Ultimate Insurance Solutions underlined their commitment to
the English Blind Golf Association by pledging their support to the 2010
World Championships & British Open, which are being staged by the EBGA next
August at Whittlebury Park Golf & Country Club, Northamptonshire.

Finishing in 2nd place, just 3 behind, and obviously capitalising on their
local knowledge, were The Captains of Hindhead featuring Lady Captain Jane
Jones, Mens Captain Colin Monkhouse, EBGA member Steve Cook from Cornwall
with his guide Phil Errett and Pete "Elvis" Sands who treated all the
competitors to an impromptu performance of "It's Now or Never" and "The
Wonder of You" during the presentation ceremony .
That performance and other aspects of the day were recorded and will be
available as a podcast on this site soon.

EBGA member Peita Le Roux, playing in his first event since joining the
association, took the prize for The Longest Drive on the 18th whilst another
blind golfer, Steve Evans, claimed the Nearest The Pin prize on the 6th.

Other celebrities taking part in the day were the four-times Olympic Gold
Medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent, former footballers Mark Bright, Luther
Blissett and Clive Walker, the legendary DJ Ed "Stewpot" Stewart and BBC
Presenters Clare Balding, Alice Arnold, Andrew Cotter, David Croft, Mickey
Clark and Rob Bonnet.
Our sincere thanks go to all of them for their support as well as all the
guests who paid to take part in the day, to our sponsors Ultimate Insurance
Solutions, to Hindhead Golf Club and of course, to Peter Alliss for his
continuing support.
Special thanks must also go to The Captains of Burford, Roger Hughes and
Martin Stanley, for their generosity toward the EBGA over the past two years
and for the very large cheque, in more ways than one, that they presented to
the association.
