CANADIAN BLIND GOLF OPEN 2015

I was the lone EWBG player taking part in the recent Canadian Open.  The event took place at Creston Golf Club.  Creston is a small town in the extreme south east of British Columbia approximately 500 miles from Vancouver.

Darren Dumas, who lives in Creston, led a dedicated team of golf club members and residents in organising a very well run and enjoyable tournament.  We were fortunate with the weather as the temperature dropped to a comfortable high twenties from the mid thirties in the days beforehand.

As usual I played Ok but nowhere near good enough to feature in the winners enclosure.  My namesake, with a different spelling, Derek Kibblewhite  from Calgary, playing off 18,  won the overall nett prize with a two round total of 140 on the challenging but majestic course.  Allan Morgan (one of two Scots attending) came second with a net 142.

If you have the chance to play in a Canadian Open you will not regret visiting this vast and beautiful country.
